Global Warming: Large threat to our future? Yes, but not for the reasons you have been told!
Man-made global warming: Is it the largest threat to our future? Very possibly! But NOT for the reasons that you may have been told.
There is ample evidence for global warming, but doom-Sayers are telling us that greenhouse gases, produced by the burning of fossil fuels and other human
activities, are the cause - which they claim is threatening to destroy planet Earth. Is humanity the cause? The evidence challenges this assertion, but our attempts to fix the issue - by attacking the wrong problems, are indeed a very large threat!
The idea of man-made global warming will certainly allow select people to gain a power over our lives. And attempts to mitigate an improperly diagnosed cause will prevent us from effectively addressing real threats – such as those caused by scarce energy supplies and terrorism.
Now we clearly have an unhealthy reliance on Arab oil, which generates the primary funding for global terrorism. But if we fight the wrong battles, then we bankrupt ourselves and limit our options for creating energy independence. We have made the idea of man-made global warming an extreme threat; thereby translating an artificial threat into a real one that could destroy us!
But are humans causing global warming?
Did you know that evidence points to global warming on Mars also?

Kate Ravilious wrote on NationalGeographic.com of a simultaneous warming of both Earth and Mars (see resources below). Obviously, we do not burn fossil fuels on Mars. Should we look for another cause? In fact, there is strong evidence of a common origin for the warming of both planets.
The founder of the weather channel, John Coleman, is outspoken on this topic; he calls (man-made) global warming the “Greatest Scam in History” (see references below). As evidence from Mars climatology supports, Mr. Coleman makes a solid case that global warming is caused – not by human activity – but by natural variations in the output of the sun. In the following graphic, from an article by Mr. Coleman, the correlation between the sun’s energy output and variations in the Earth’s temperature is shown.
Clearly, there is a serious argument that global warming is driven by changes in the energy output of the sun.
But to what degree do human-generated greenhouse gases, such as from the burning of fossil fuels, contribute? Obviously none on Mars, but what about on Earth? Indications are that total human contributions to greenhouse gases add up to only about 0.28% of the Earth’s greenhouse effect (see references).
This should seriously question the assertion that Earth’s global warming is caused by the activity of humans.
Now I believe that God tells us to be good stewards of the environment. But what’s needed is a rational approach – and not bowing to knee-jerk reactionaries. Let’s not allow the environmental lobby to artificially burden our economy nor limit our growth by causing wasteful fights against the wrong targets.
In my next article in this series, I’ll discuss how this issue is preventing us from successfully fixing the root causes of high fuel prices.
