Harold Camping, of “Family Radio” apparently believes and is spreading the word that Judgment Day
will occur on May 21, 2011, when believers will be taken by God from the Earth immediately before He begins His final judgments upon sinful humanity. Mr. Camping also predicts that the end of the world will finally occur on October 21, 2011.
It is difficult to deny the signs that we may be living in the last days. Clearly we are living in a time of a great falling away from all things God. Sin and disbelief in the sacred generally dominates. We also live in a time of great natural disasters: earthquakes, storms, floods, and the like – certainly beyond anything in my lifetime. Even my parents – both born during the great depression – also speak of these times as unprecedented in their lifetimes. The signs of the times certainly appear to fit the general pattern that the Bible says will prevail in the last days. And the Bible very clearly states that Christ will return to an unprepared world. We desperately need a great revival to turn the world back to the Truth!
However no matter how sincerely that Mr. Camping believes his message, I strongly question that any person can know with such precision when Christ will return.

Twenty years ago, Larry Burkett published a book entitled “The Coming Economic Earthquake”. In his book, Mr. Burkett sounded dire warnings about
the dangers of runaway US government spending, and the very-great temptation to “monetize” the government debt by purchasing it with money printed for that purpose.
Looking at what is going on with our out-of-control government spending, and the money printing presses that are running at full capacity – it would seem Larry Burkett’s dire prophecies are in danger of being fulfilled. Exactly what did he predict?
- Government spending would grow until it was out of control. Clearly, this has occurred.
- The government would be unable to sell all the debt, so it would be “monetized”; i.e. it would be purchased by new money printed by the Fed for this purpose. Whatever the reason, this is clearly underway with the Federal Reserve’s “Quantitative Easing” program.
- The interest payments required to service the national debt would grow until they exceeded all available tax receipts. We don’t appear to be here yet, but will this remain true when interest rates begin to rise?
- Hyperinflation would be triggered. People’s savings would be wiped out, and those on fixed incomes would not be able to meet their living expenses. He noted that this has been the case in EVERY historical example that we have of governments that fund their debts by printing money.

As anyone who has been monitoring the news or the value of their 401K’s has witnessed, shock waves have been going through the U.S. banking system and economy. Home loan crisis, investment banking collapse, and what next?
Now let me be the first to say that I don’t claim to be a Prophet of God. But, with a little understanding, the current crisis looks more and more like pages from the Bible’s book of last things – the book of Revelation:
“Fallen! Fallen is Babylon the Great! She has become a home for demons and a haunt for every evil spirit, a haunt for every unclean and detestable bird. For all the nations have drunk the maddening wine of her adulteries. The kings of the earth committed adultery with her, and the merchants of the earth grew rich from her excessive luxuries.” (from Rev 18:2-3, NIV)
When you consider the origins of the fractional banking system – the interest bearing system that gives out loans repaid with compounded interest, then current events become particularly interesting. Interest bearing loans where invented in ancient Babylon! more »»

In business, there has been a huge trend towards the off-shoring of human resources. While most of
us have been impacted in some way by off-shoring, this was likely only a foreshadow of what’s to come; the practice is now poised to blow through the economies of the western world like Katrina blew through New Orleans and Mississippi.
Manufacturing is being shipped wholesale to China, as domestic labor cannot hope to compete against the near slave-wages of the workers provided by the communist nation. And the communists there are apparently using the tremendous profit windfalls to fund an unprecedented military modernization program. One might ask, against what enemy are they arming?

“Only a virtuous people are capable of freedom. As nations become corrupt and vicious, they have more need of masters.”
Benjamin Franklin, April 17, 1787
The war on terror is dragging on and on. Iran is working to develop atomic weapons. Concerns persist about the intent of China’s military buildup. Russia is apparently moving back towards its Soviet roots.
And now 6/6/6 (June 6, 2006). Can the end of the world be far off? It is certain that we have never been closer – the world is a very dangerous place indeed!
Whether the sun will rise for planet Earth tomorrow is hard to predict. A more serious question to ask oneself is whether the sun will rise tomorrow for my individual life. One can never be certain.
The wisest way to proceed is to live today as if it is my last day. I should try to ensure that I am not wasting this gift of life; that I am living the life that I will wish to have lived upon looking back from my last day!
