Wars and Rumors of Wars
Wars and rumors of wars…
- Continuing fears about Iran developing an atomic bomb.
- Continued threats against Israel by Iran’s Ahmadinejad
- Israel threatening to bomb Iran to inhibit progress of Iran developing nuclear weapons.
- Russia attacking the country of Georgia.
- Ukraine banishing Russian fleets from returning to leased bases on the Black Sea because of their attacks on Georgia.
- President Bush sending US aircraft and Naval forces on humanitarian aid to Georgia.
- A large armada of US, UK, and French naval forces bound for the Persian gulf – possibly to support a blockade against Iran.
So much military power concentrated in such a troubled area of the world is a recipe for chaos.
Combined with economic chaos, rising prices, famines and earthquakes in various places, and weather related disasters – it certainly appears that we could be experiencing “birth pains” of the end times.
An old Chinese proverb and curse is purported to say: “May you live in interesting times”. The times are indeed looking “interesting”, even for someone who grew up during the cold war.
What advice for such perplexing times? (from Luke 21) “Be always on the watch, and pray that you may be able to escape all that is about to happen,and that you may be able to stand before the Son of Man”, and “When these things begin to take place, stand up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.”
